Armenia is smaller than Belgium , Armenia sits on a land, which is between the Black and the Caspian seas, landlocked between Iran to the southeast, Turkey along the southwestern corner, Georgia up north and Azerbaijan on the eastern border. The land rises in the north to form the Little Caucasus mountain range and arid flatlands and continues southwards into Turkey and Iran. Only 10% of the country lies below 1000m 3280ft, and its highest point is the 4090m 13,415ft Mt.Aragats. The Araks river forms most of Armenia's border with Iran and part of the border with Turkey.
Holy Etchmiadzin
Mother Sea of Holy Etchmiadzin was the capital of Armenia from about AD 184 to AD 340 Today the city is the site of the most important cathedral for Armenian Apostolic Church, founded by St. Gregory the Illuminator it is a holy place for All Armenians. It is also the spiritual home of the head of the Armenian Apostolic Church Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos Of All Armenians His Holiness Karekin II. Holy Etchmiadzin Cathedral dates back to 4 th Century, and it is recognized as one of the oldest Christian Cathedral in the world.
Armenia is the first nation in the world who adopted Christianity as the national religion In the year 301 AD.
Lake Sevan
Lake Sevan is up in the Armenian highlands. Lake Sevan is the largest lake in Transcaucasia and it is the second largest lake in the world. Lake Sevan is 1,900 meters above sea level. 6232 ft.
The Climate of Armenia
The climate in Armenia is very comfortable. Summers are dry and sunny, it last's from June to middle of September. The low humidity level is extremely comfortable throughout the year. An evening breeze that comes down from the mountains provides a welcoming refreshing and cooling effect. Summers are dry and hot. Very comfortable. Winters are pretty cold and plenty of snow on higher elevations.
